"She's my true north," Scott says as he looks over at Wendy. "She always has been."
Scott and Wendy have been married for 27 years. They've raised two brave and beautiful girls. They have grandchildren and son-in-laws, and a beautiful family. You can't help but feel loved when you are around them in part because they are so in love with each other.
As we stepped out of the car and walked up towards the top of Max Patch, NC Scott and Wendy held hands, they joked, they kissed, they teased, and in a way it was like stepping directly into their love story. A true love story has many ups and downs and yet still endures. It's not a fairytale, it is so much deeper than that. When you are with Scott and Wendy you can feel that their love has been shaped by time, loss, joy, hardship, and friendship. It stops you in its tracks. I truly shed a tear when, as the sunset behind them and the wind whipped around us, Wendy and Scott took a deep breath together looked into each others eyes and said the words that have shaped their lives, "I love you." Because no one has ever meant it more.
Thank you Wendy and Scott for allowing me to share your love story and for trusting me on a small adventure. Thank you for sharing that love with others and keeping it real and honest and true.
