It's so hard to convey HOW MUCH you get out of a photo session. Most people see the outcome or the behind the scenes of posing but it’s hard to explain HOW MUCH MORE it is than just pretty pictures, you know? So, here’s my attempt…
Four reasons why it's the self-care you didn't know you needed:
An Hour Without Phones
Let's be honest, Friend, when was the last time you had an hour off your phone? An hour without multitasking? An hour just focused on yourself, your partner, or your family? It's HARD to carve that time out in today's world and a photo session can provide that super special intentional time.
An Hour in Nature
I'm a nature girl. I find being in nature to be incredibly therapeutic. It reminds me of the bigger picture, it puts me right in the present moment, it soothes my senses and gets me back to what's important. Call it fresh air therapy or a nature bath but I think we could all use more of it. My photo sessions are all about recognizing nature, the grass between your toes, the light on your skin, breathing in the trees and cleansing in a waterfall.
An Hour for Adventure & Play
When is the last time you went on a microadventure or were just silly? Photo sessions provide a space for us to play. We dress up, dance, twirl, skip, hike to the top of the waterfall, get wet, laugh, cry, and channel our inner courage.
A Confidence Boost
And all that play, all that trying something new, all that stepping out of our comfort zones and into courage is a MAJOR confidence boost, Friend. And I'm your hype girl telling you what a badass you are the whole time. Not to mention connecting with ourselves, our partners or our family in a way that we don't usually ALSO provides a huge confidence boost. It reminds us of who the fuck we are.
So schedule in some much needed self-care time and remember it's so much more than just the pictures at the end—soak it in.
