It's easy to get sucked into the hustle of life. I particularly feel this during the early summer months which is my busy season. If I don't get ahead and schedule in down time it feels like it gets sucked into the vortex of "the busy life."
We aren't always perfect but Zach and I work really hard to take time for ourselves, even with busy travel schedules and an even busier toddler. Sometimes It's just a drive. Sometimes its making dinner at home just the two of us. Sometimes its a weekend away and adventure. A couple weekends ago it was as simple as a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway for some amazing food at Continental Divide in Charlottesville. Then another outing for breakfast in Waynesboro VA the next morning. Nothing fancy. But it is amazing how having this time to reconnect, to talk, to just be, refreshes me.
So here's my little words of encouragement today: schedule some downtime. It doesn't matter if its time to read your book, or a date night out, or girls night, or going for a drive with the music blaring. Whatever it is--take it.
Cheers!
