Lemonade stands, bubbles, and sprinklers--what could remind you more of those dog days of summer? As many of you know I had been dying all summer to do a "sprinkler" session with some willing little person. Miss Lily volunteered! I fell so in love with this session. Everything from the bubbles in the air to Lily's wet hair to her sweet smile just warm my heart. I hope it will yours too.

For weeks and weeks you heard me talking about the Holiday Mini Sessions I was going to hold at Riverdale Elementary School. Well the day finally arrived and it was such a wonderful, fun day! I loved seeing all the cuties out in their holiday outfits as well as capturing so many fun family moments.
I had so many favorite from this day! I think everyone enjoyed playing around in the gym as well as being able to go outside thanks to the beautiful weather. Thank you to all my amazing clients for being willing to travel some for these mini sessions and for showing up for such a fun time. I will definitely be offering this again next year and am already thinking of different possibilities. Until then, I hope these help put you in the holiday spirit!
I'm not going to lie, I've been wanting to photograph this kid since before he was born. When I found out Heather was pregnant, I knew this kid was going to be sweet and adorable, just like his parents. So as soon as Brennan came into the world, we booked a session for when he was about 6 months old.
Unfortunately our first effort at a session got completely rained out. Not just drizzle, we're talking serious downpour. But that was okay, we waiting a month or so until the afternoon rains died off some and Brennan had mastered his sitting up a little more.
It was a really amazing day and I just loved spending time with this little guy. He's so laid back and just happy to be around! We've already got a Holiday Mini session scheduled with this cutie and I cannot WAIT to see how those turned out. Stay tuned!
Our holiday sessions are filling up quickly! I know its early to be thinking about the holidays, and you may not want to yet, but just think of already having your pictures done and getting your cards ordered before everyone else this year! What a load off to have one thing done and be ready to concentrate on fun stuff like, shopping! (Have I mentioned I'm a little bit of a shop-a-holic?) Our holiday session is filling up quickly, so contact me today to reserve your time slot!
Happy Monday all!
I absolutely love when my job allows me to reconnect with old friends and coworkers! I was thrilled when Heather contacted me (we used to work together) saying that she had just had her new baby girl and would love some family portraits. We had so much fun and it was such a privileged to meet such a sweet baby girl.
Leiah was born premature so she is just a tiny little bundle of joy. We did these photos just a couple weeks after she was born so she was still sleepy, tiny, and precious.
Leiah's Dad, David, is in the Marines so we had fun doing a lot of different shots with his uniform. Amazingly, the uniform survived without any accidents!
After talking with Heather and David, they let slip that they had never had portraits done of just the two of them, not to mention as a family. So while Grandma and Grandpa took a shift feeding Leiah, we snuck off to do just a couple pictures of them.
Just as a side note: I am a huge fan of making sure you have couple portraits taken at many stages of life. This isn't just because it's what I do, but because everyone needs some photographs that show the love that you feel for each other. It reminds us of whats important and gives us a visual reminder when times are tough.
David and Heather radiate love not just for each other but for Leiah too. You can tell they are going to be fabulous parents! Congrats you two! I can't wait to see Leiah through each stage of life grow in the loving environment you have created for her.
As a professional photographer its incredibly important to me not to forget to capture my everyday life. Don't get me wrong, there is a side of my brain that never stops taking pictures. I see them EVERYWHERE and try to capture the most I can. But there are times when I get so focused on work, bookings, editing etc, that I forget to take a breath and look around me.
Like at this little guy, who is just begging to have his picture taken...
Seriously...
He loves the camera. I was surprised how comfortable both my niece and nephew were with the camera. I don't get to see them as much as I would like to so I was a little worried they would shy away from it but instead they went right for it. Which made my heart happy. I would love to look back years later and have many photographs of these normal moments in their lives along with the great achievements.
I'm sure there will be times when they get tired of their crazy Aunt with the camera but in some way I hope it teaches them to keep doing the things they love, to struggle through the mental blocks and fatigue, and to strive to make their passions happen even in ordinary moments. So for now, I plan to just keep clicking away.
Earlier this week I was so excited and thrilled to get to meet the newest addition to a client and friend's family. On my way over to The Women's Pavillion I was full of questions. What is this little man going to be like? Does he look like his Dad? Does he look like his Mom? I couldn't wait to meet this new little person.
And the answer to all those questions is, he's perfect. He is completely himself. Meet Maddox! You may remember his big sister from Meeting Macey. They look so much alike! Although Maddox favors his Mom's darker hair.
Big Sister Macey is still adjusting to the change. But she was more than willing to lend her pacifier when Maddox was crying. Seriously, the sweetest thing ever!
Angela is a stunning Mom! I have always been impressed with how laid back and calm she is through this entire process. I love this photo of her and Maddox.
She and Dustin work very well together as a team. Something I am sure they have perfected with Macey. I can't get over the look on Grandma's face in the background, so much love!
Congratulations Dustin, Angela, and Macey! I know you guys have some long weeks ahead as you get to learn this new member of your family but I am so excited to watch and see this little man grow up.
That's right, I know you've seen the party but you don't think we could let this little girl turn the big O-N-E without a proper photo shoot do you? Get out your awww's and oooo's because this is about to be a whole lot of cute!
First of all a big shout out to The Cup in Bearden for letting us do the first half of the photo shoot there. It was perfect for Lily's intimate birthday celebration and I can't say enough how awesome the staff was (and the cupcakes!).
We met early and a very very cold Saturday to do the photo shoot. I was so glad we were inside and sipping coffee when we got started. As previously stated, we met at The Cup and got out the balloons and party hats.
And what's a birthday without cake? Especially a yummy cupcake?
After we had our fill of cupcake and balloons, we headed over to the L&N for a few more shots of the beautiful birthday girl.
Thank you to Freddie and Lindsey for letting me be apart of this exciting time in your family's life. I have enjoyed getting to know you two better and you beautiful daughter. I think you would both agree that its been an exciting and wonderful first year for Lily! Happy birthday Lily!
That's right, this little lady just turned one! Can you believe it? It's hard to believe that I've been photographing Lily for a year now. She has grown faster than I could have believed. It was so much fun to celebrate with this little girl and her family.
Lily's parents threw a Lady Bug themed party and it was ADORABLE. They had everything from Lady Bug cake to a color coordinated tutu for the birthday girl.
The party was an intimate gathering of family and close friends. You could just feel the love coming out of that room! Freddie, Lily's Dad, smoked the pork bbq himself and we had a small feast. Instead of cards for Lily, they had everyone sign one of her Cat in the Hat books so that as she grows up she will be able to know everyone who was at her first birthday party. So sweet! However my favorite moment had to be watching Lily discover her cake. I say "discover" because she didn't smash it, she just investigated it more and more.
Happy Birthday Lily! You are a beautiful and sweet little girl. I can't wait to see you grow more!
