Happy Birthday to me (yesterday)!
I have always loved my birthday. People in my family know to expect an extensive birthday list from me sometime in July. But it's not the presents or even the attention really. It's knowing that I made it. That despite whatever happened that year, I have a new year to enjoy. It's reflective and hopeful. If there is anything I hope for myself its to always be hungry for this life--to consume joy after joy. And to maybe, perhaps, leave a little light behind when my own is gone.
So here is to the years gone by. Thank you for making me stronger, for reminding me of the beauty in all chapters of this life, and for making me the hero in my own story. And here's to the year ahead, may you be kind, may your days be sunlit and slow, and may you grace me with more light and love.
